Michael & Laura arrive at Bride’s getting ready location to shoot details and getting ready images.
Note: Ideally by the time we arrive, hair and make-up is already wrapping up. If something is going to delay the beginning of the day, it’s often HAMU.
Michael will head to the guys getting ready space. The bride will put her dress on and Laura will shoot some bridals.
Note: Once the dress is on, we want to have time for putting on jewelry, extra touch ups, pictures with bridesmaids helping you in your dress, and a few bridals.
The First Look
Note: Ideally Michael will choose this location to find an area with the best light. He will take the groom out and have his back turned, while Laura leads out the bride.
Bridal Party
Note: We will ask the bridal party to meet us outside after the first look. (It's nice to be more secluded for the first look.) Bridesmaids should have their bouquets and groomsmen should have boutonnieres on.
Ceremony
It's becoming more and more popular to do an "unplugged" ceremony and ask guests to put their cell phones away. Feel free to let guest know we will share the images.. we can even give you a link or QR code to add to your sign for guest to have access to your gallery. Just ask!
Family Formals
Note: We do family portraits right after the ceremony because everyone you need will be easy to grab. If you can give your family notice that we’ll be taking pictures immediately after the ceremony, that will also ensure that no one wanders off. We’ll help you create a list of family portraits before the big day.
Just Married Portraits
Depending on when you're getting married, this is typically the time of the day with the best light (about an hour before sunset). We love shooting in this golden hour for some "just married" portraits of the two of you!
Reception Begins
Once the receptions begins we will just be floating around. We try to keep an eye on you at all times so if you need anything we aren't too far away.
Grand Exit
Note: Do us a favor.. don't RUN through your sparklers at full speed. And stop near the end of the line for a good long kiss as husband and wife!
First look Audio blog - reasons we love first looks
First look reviews from past couples (spoiler.. they all love them)
Our own first look with our thoughts
If you're still trying to decide.. We love first looks for a lot of reasons!
Read about them here..
Our basic package includes 8 hours.. and we LOVE that you are interested in a first look. Here's what your day might look like:
We will arrive and shoot your wedding details.
*I'll send you a list (invitations, jewelry, rings, etc.)
Laura will shoot the finishing touches of hair and
makeup and any fun robe shots, popping champagne, etc.
Michael will head to the guys!
Laura will photograph you getting into your dress, putting on jewelry, and a few bridals.
If you're exchanging notes, or want to do a first look with your dad, that will happen here too.
Michael will pick a good spot and set up your groom.
Laura will walk you out to him for your first look. Then we'll take some portraits!
The bridal party will meet us out to take some big group pictures,
and ones of just bride with bridesmaids and groom with groomsmen.
This gives us a little buffer time before the ceremony, gives you some time to breathe
and get ready to walk down the aisle, and do any needed hair and makeup touch ups.
It also helps to hide you away before the majority of guests arrive.
Typical ceremonies last about 30 minutes, but do what you want, this is just a guide.
*Check with your ceremony space to see if there are any rules for photography!
We recommend doing formal portraits with your immediate family only. If you want large
groups of extended family, let's do those at the reception. Totally up to you though!
Just budget some extra time if you want to add in aunts and cousins into this time too!
We love snagging you for a few "just married" portraits too! This is when the light is best..
and there is something special about taking some portraits once you're officially MARRIED!
We let the DJ take over from here.
We'll be floating around if you need anything or would like any group pictures!
If you want to party until later, we recommend doing a "faux exit".
Grab some bridal party members and family and we will take a quick "exit" shot
before we leave.. and you get to keep partying!

To help with the limited time we have for portraits after
the ceremony, we'll try to take pictures of bride with bridesmaids and
groom with groomsmen before the ceremony.
We will take a few pictures of the full bridal party during this time.
If we didn't get all the individuals before the ceremony, we will do those too.
